Suzanne Hagler, MD
2026 Nominations: Member at Large
I am a pediatric neurologist and headache specialist with a direct-pay private practice in South Florida, caring for children, adolescents, and young adults with headache disorders. I completed my training in pediatrics and pediatric neurology in New York, where I developed a strong interest in headache medicine, recognizing the significant gap in attention to this area in both neurology broadly and pediatrics specifically. I completed a headache fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, then moved to Florida and worked for seven years at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital directing the pediatric headache program. My interest in providing more personalized headache care led me to open my own practice.
In my practice, I focus on tailored care with a whole-person approach. Working in this setting has allowed me to think creatively about headache management and explore strategies beyond standard migraine treatments, with a particular focus more recently in psychology-based interventions for patients who do not respond to conventional therapies.
I first attended a Southern Headache Society meeting about five years ago and found it extremely welcoming. Colleagues were approachable, and I quickly felt comfortable participating. In a niche field like headache medicine, that sense of camaraderie has been particularly valuable. I also appreciate that the meetings often cover practical, less conventional topics, which tend to be more directly applicable to daily practice than the typical content at larger national meetings.
I would welcome the opportunity to serve as a Member-at-Large. I hope to bring a pediatric and community-practice perspective, contribute to programming that is clinically useful, and support the ongoing collaboration and exchange of ideas that make the Southern Headache Society a valuable resource for its members. I look forward to the meetings each year and would appreciate any opportunity to contribute my perspective to the Society and its programs.
