Chaouki Khoury, MD
2026 Nominations: President Elect
I’ve always been interested in Headache Medicine, from the patient care perspective, to teaching and research, to billing, collection, and practice building. With that focus in mind, since I graduated in 2007, I have actively worked on developing my career while making sure to be actively involved with the local and national neurology and headache medicine societies. Therefore, early on in my career, I joined the American Headache Society, the Headache SIG of the Child Neurology Society, the AAN section on Headache and Facial Pain, and the Southern Headache Society. I didn’t just join these societies, I made sure to be actively serving within these different societies. I have served as chair of the Bylaws Committee of the Child Neurology Society, Director of the 2000 Annual Meeting of the Texas Neurological Society, Director of one of the recourses at the American Head he Society at the Scottsdale Headache Symposium in 2023, and am currently a board member of both The Southern Headache Society and Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy, serving as Treasurer on the latter. I am also currently serving as Co-Director of the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Southern Headache Society.
I have developed a career that centers around thinking outside the proverbial box, both in the care of my patients as well in the business aspect of medicine, two qualities that are important in our times and provide a strong background for service as President of the Southern Headache Society, if I have the privilege of being elected to that position. I am frequently asked to present at meetings, not only on medical but also on business topics. In addition, I have had several times other physicians, who are already established, come and shadow me in my practice, to better develop and grow their own practice.
I have enjoyed every aspect of my work within all the societies and committees, and have developed relationships with many of the members that I cherish deeply. These relationships foster collaborations, and I have always focused on team building through any task I have undertaken.
Within this line of service, I would be honored to elected to the post of president of the Southern Headache Society.
